What happened to Wendy Williams?

Fans are worried for Wendy Williams’ health after a source confirmed that the TV personality will not be returning to her talk show anytime in the near future.

False reports of diagnosis claims and other fabricated theories have surfaced online, but a source close to the situation just put the rumours to rest.

As per PEOPLE, the source explained that Williams is still battling a number of medical issues, including Graves’ disease, and is taking each day steadily.

The same source told fans that Wendy, 57, could return in the fall, depending on her health. The insider shared: “Wendy won’t be returning to the show for the rest of this season. Her healing is going slower than everyone had hoped. She continues to deal with a number of medical issues, including Graves’ disease, and she and her team are taking it one day at a time.

“But reports of a stroke, drugs or addiction issues or a dementia diagnosis are all false. Whether Wendy can return in the fall will depend on how her healing goes over the summer. Her health is the most important thing.”

Sherri Shepherd rumoured to become ‘permanent guest host’

Following Wendy Williams’ ongoing absence, The Wendy Williams Show has been joined by a handful of guest hosts.

However, in latest news, TMZ reports that an insider expects to see Sherri Shepherd become a ‘permanent guest host’ from September onwards.

The same outlet reports that show producers will be monitoring Williams’ health between now and September. If Wendy is well enough to return, there will be an “open door” for her. On the other hand, if the 57-year-old is not well enough, Shepherd will take charge.

Deadline reports that if Shepherd becomes a permanent fixture on the show, and Wendy Williams does not return in the fall, the talk show will likely be renamed.

How long has Wendy Williams been away from the show?

Wendy’s last appearance on the show came in July 2021, and she stepped away back in October 2021 after suffering “serious complications” from Graves Disease as well as a thyroid condition.

Earlier in October, the TV personality revealed that she had also battled Covid-19.
